This 118-page, hardcover catalog was created for a flower shop in Brooklyn with the intent to distribute to funeral homes. The design itself needed to be clean, to ease the selection of flower arrangements.
The first step was preparing photos as the majority of about 100 images required some form of editing. Numerous were selected for advanced cleanup, manipulation, and/or background replacement.
The two photos below are good examples of Photoshop compositing and advanced work that can be done on images. Flower arrangements were cut out of the busy background and placed in a clean environment.
Sharpening, slight color, and contrast adjustment were also applied.
The next pair of images presented less complex issues. Besides the standard editing the image on the left had a background retouching and clean-up rather than replacement. The specialty arrangement resembling the American flag was distorted when photographed, see the difference for yourself.
The heart-shaped arrangement wasn’t framed correctly when photographed, and fragments of flowers and leaves were cut off. Missing pieces were recreated in Photoshop using various tools.
In the last example in a similar way, corrections were applied and the image was reframed to give it a cleaner and professional look.
